Eating Piada in Soho

Piada Bar Soho

Piada is a popular street food from Emilio Romagno and it is now in London. Piadabar has just opened in Soho serving this flat bread snack. They are open all day and well into the night (1 am) to serve those bar flys in Soho.  It’s a great late night grab and go snack.

Try their classic flavour with parma ham, melted mozzarella and rocket if you like the traditional flavours. If not, they have some Londonised flavours like smoked salmon. For vegetarians, they have a cheese and vegetable flavours. Other flavours that’s worth trying is the pork belly and the hot Nutella one. The piada flat bread is imported from Italy and is made with lard. It make a pliable and robust bread and is great after toasting.

Besides the headline Piada, they sell a variety of specialist deli products and pastries from Emilio Romagno too. The people in the know shop here for those specialities that are not available anywhere else in London like their special cheese. They don’t have a lot of it and the it gets sold out very quickly.

Being Italian, they serve espresso too. In the cold section, they have the range of Italian soft drinks like the ones they love a lot, the Chinotto by San Pellegrino, an acquired taste.

On the night we were there, we also tasted some great wine made by a couple of Veneto based lady wine makers, Castello Carboncine. They make a variety of red and white wines and are open to visitors. If you are in Venice, get in touch with them to see their vineyards and wine cellar.
