Just did a whirlwind tour to Washington DC for a conference and did a whistlestop tour of the Smithsonian Museum. I just had to see Julia Child’s Kitchen, which was shown at the end of the recent film Julie and Julia.
It was exactly as she had it and what I was really impressed with was all the amazing gadgets she had in that kitchen. Very prominent on the worktop is a Kitchen Aid mixer which looks unchanged in design today. She also had the most awesome collection of Japanese Kitchen Knives, a woman after my won heart. For any serious cook, this is such a well equiped kitchen, must have been a real joy to cook in. I tried to take the photos through the plexi glass without the horrible flash reflection and some of them are a bit blur.
Tried to take a bit of a close up on the work top but it is a rather shaky picture.
Here is her wall of pans.
Must have taken her years to build up this massive collection of kitchen gadgets, knives and pots and pans.
