Get out of town with a day trip hiking in Mount Tamalpais. It’s a short drive from downtown San Francisco and you can see some Redwood forest and these awesome waterfalls.

Take a selfie with Christopher Columbus at the foot of the Coit Tower. Turn around and you get a great view of Alcatraz and the Bay too.
Every Saturday, the Ferry Building plays host to the most fabulous farmer’s market, California style. You can buy 5 different types of kale for your green juice and stock up on the local artisan sauerkraut.

Even on a rainy day, the iconic Painted Ladies in the Western Addition is a great photo opp. They are the best example of Victorian architecture in town.

A must do is to either bike or walk across the Golden Gate Bridge. It can be cold and windy but the views across the Bay are fab. At one end, look down and see the crazy surfers catching a tiny wave around Fort Point.
Spend a morning in the Japanese Tea Garden in the Goldenn Gate Park. It’s serene and charming.

Castro is a really stylish Gay neighbourhood made famous by Harvey Milk. Take a walk across these rainbow coloured crossings while you are there.
San Francisco Chinatown is a must visit. Look up when you walk around. The local community has been commissioning these street murals in unexpected places.
