Simba Hybrid Duvet Review

Simba Hybrid Duvet with storage bag

When it is time to upgrade my duvet, I don’t know where to start. I used to browse in department stores and ask them lots of questions.

I like my old down duvet but it has been ages and there is no loft anymore. I need something new, sustainable and comfortable that I can use year round.

How to choose a new duvet

I narrow down my search by material, tog and quality. This Simba Hybrid duvet is a luxurious eco friendly option using recycled plastic for the filling.

The duvet uses comfortable cotton on both top and bottom sides. One side has regular cotton and the other side uses their high tech Stratos® ‘cool-touch’ tech.

The duvet is divided into big squares so that the filling is evenly distributed so there are no cold areas. A good shake will help the filling get evenly redistributed again, so you avoid the problem of duvet filling clumping in one space.

The filling is a soft and down-like made from recycled plastic bottles. The soft down texture is designed for airflow, keeping the duvet dry.

Simba Hybrid Duvet

A warm and lightweight duvet

This duvet is 10.5 TOG which is warm enough for the cold nights and not too warm for the warmer months. This is one of the limitations of the Simba duvet, there are not too many different TOG choices.

Simba Hybrid Duvet label

There is a little label that shows you which side is the top or bottom, a little bonus. At the end of its life, which will be many years from now, there is a QR code to help you find ways to recycle this.

Comfort & Performance

This duvet is quite lightweight and yet it is warm enough for the colder nights. In the summer, the cotton cover works by encouraging air circulation. They use Better Cotton, which helps cotton communities survive and thrive, while protecting and restoring the environment.

In addition, they have something called the Stratos cool-touch tech which is so high tech that it is used by astronauts to keep cool in space. The technology is designed to help dissipate excess heat and this is used in the underside of the Hybrid Duvet.

This Simba Hybrid duvet is machine washable and comes with its own compact storage bag. Which is really handy in the summer when I wash the duvets and pillows and dry them in the sun. Previously, I will store them in a bin bag until the autumn when the weather gets cooler.

Simba is also a B-Corp too, so they have a positive impact, socially and environmentally.
