Yes yes yes -The one where Alicia discovers a new breakfast bar

I try to eat healthy, be active and take care of my mind, body and soul. When I first heard about the Yes! fruit and nut cereal bar brand from Nestle I was not so sure these bars would hit the mark for a healthy snack. But what a pleasant surprise! It is a delicious easy to eat on the go bar to enjoy in the train or when you are in a rush. Who is not in a rush these days?

What makes this little bar so special? First, it has only 5 g sugar per bar, which is a massive differentiator, if you compare it to other bars available in the market. On top of that, it is also compatible for vegetarians!!! And it is gluten free plus has no palm oil. Where is the catch …? Well there is no catch really!

They come in 5 flavours: beetroot and apple, lemon, quinoa and chilli, cranberry, dark choc, sea salt and almond and dark choc and coffee, dark choc and cherry. My favourite is dark choc and sea salts!

27 Grains located in Neal´s Yard in central London hosted the event in which they introduced us to these delicious health bars. Using the “yes” bars flavours as an inspiration, the cooking team at 27 Grains created a unique menu for us to enjoy healthy, tasty and balanced food.

We kicked off with a dark choc, sea salt and almond milk hot chocolate… is tastes as good as it sounds! I promise!

Next on the menu was soft Greek yogurt, lemon curd, fresh apple compote, chilli syrup and toasted puffed quinoa. The contracts in the flavours, the chilli and the compote… a delight! Beautiful texture and great refreshing combination to kick off the day.

For those with a sweet tooth, the next plate on the menu was cranberry jam, peanut butter, cacao nibs on a toast. A classic!

The next plate was poached eggs, mandolin beetroot, mandolin apple, spinach, hollandaise and roasted almonds. This was certainly my favourite. It did take the main favours from the Beetroot & Apple bar as a starting point and gave it a great twist with the egg and the spinach. Delicious flavour and great presentation.

We finished the breakfast with an almond brownie to go, which sweetened my afternoon. Perfect balance between salt and sweet, with a little coffee kick and cherry flavour.

Take-aways from the breakfast? Healthy and tasty bars are compatible. Secondly, Nestle is taking the task to offer healthy snacks very seriously and it is certainly heading in the right direction! Finally yet importantly, 26 Grains is a must visit for a breakfast treat.
