Iberica La Terraza Canary Wharf
Want to escape to the sun but can’t take the time away from London. Just head over to Canary Wharf and there is a little Spanish pop up for the summer that offers you a glimpse of that holiday lifestyle.
Iberica Canary Wharf has taken over a corner of the garden in Cabot Square where there is a bar offering Spanish beers and wines and a selection of Tapas. This is their attempt at bringing a bit of Madrid’s Terrace Culture to London. There are al fresco tables and a couple of bars placed under the leafy trees.
We went to the launch recently and met with their executive chef, Nacho Manzano, of the 2 star restaurant Casa Marcial and London based head chef Cesar Garcia.
They have designed a menu which includes the old favourites of plates of melt-in-the mouth Iberico ham and a variety of other tapas.
If you are game, you can have a go at swigging wine from a very strange vessel, the Porron, a Spanish wine pitcher. Seeing the demonstration, it takes a bit of skill to make sure that the wine gets in your mouth and not all over your front. It’s a real conversation starter and soon you will get everyone around you involved.
If you go on a day of unpredictable summer weather, they offer heaters and blankets too. On a nice sunny day, this place would be the perfect place to while away an afternoon in London.
