So what is Foodchain?
Foodchain removes the middle man when it comes to ordering ingredients and instead, where possible will deliver direct from the farm, boat or artisans studio! The producers share on the app what they have available daily so that the chefs of The Elephants Head can effortlessly craft their menu based on what’s in season.
ensures that what we as customers are eating are fresh and of the very best of British produce. The Elephant’s Head creates delicious dishes for their weekly changing a la carte menu that is inspired by the best ingredients on the app.
This platform supports local farmers and small-scale producers by providing a route for them into the marketplace. This method is much more environmentally friendly as ingredients aren’t having to be shipped or flown, miles and miles before being served on your plate.
The bread is sourced from Dalston Bakery, who teaches ex-convicts to bake bread.
The freshness of the ingredients is evident in every dish that is served. The wild garlic farmed in Essex married all the flavours in the roast chicken and jersey royals dish. The burrata and pickled chilli dish was deliciously creamy having just been made that morning. I wish I could eat fresh like this everyday!
With the collaboration between The Elephants Head and Foodchain, you as a customer can be certain you are consuming the freshest ingredients in an environmental and sustainable method with no consolation to the flavours!
I’m a restaurant reviewer, home cook, beef geek and curious traveller. I've been blogging since 2009 and in that time, eaten out a lot, travelled to new places and cooked quite a bit too. I'd like to inspire you to be more curious about the world around you through travel stories, recipes and exciting cuisines.
Simpsons on the Strand is one of the best places for British Food in London. They serve the best roasts, delivered on their antique carving trolley daily. Its superb! Go.
Spread the loveIt’s not every day that you get to have Afternoon Tea with Tigers. That is what I did recently. The Tiger Tea at Paradise Wildlife Park is a quite a unique experience. Their newly added cafe has a large glass wall which looks out onto a platform where these glorious big cats lounge. You can…
If you are looking for an alternative night out, this is one that is worth considering. A 5 course meaty dinner with dancers performing on the table in front of you. An electric atmosphere and strangely mesmerising.
Spread the loveOut of the many food outlets in Harrods, Chai Wu is smart addition. With the change in the demographics of its customers, catering to the designer-clad, black card wielding Asian clientele is well calculated. Arriving for lunch, we were met with their very friendly staff. Cocktails were offered as soon as we sat…
A favourite Emilio Romagno street food sandwich, classically filled with parma ham, melted mozzarella and rocket. Don’t miss the hot melting Nutella one too.
