So what is Foodchain?
Foodchain removes the middle man when it comes to ordering ingredients and instead, where possible will deliver direct from the farm, boat or artisans studio! The producers share on the app what they have available daily so that the chefs of The Elephants Head can effortlessly craft their menu based on what’s in season.
ensures that what we as customers are eating are fresh and of the very best of British produce. The Elephant’s Head creates delicious dishes for their weekly changing a la carte menu that is inspired by the best ingredients on the app.
This platform supports local farmers and small-scale producers by providing a route for them into the marketplace. This method is much more environmentally friendly as ingredients aren’t having to be shipped or flown, miles and miles before being served on your plate.
The bread is sourced from Dalston Bakery, who teaches ex-convicts to bake bread.
The freshness of the ingredients is evident in every dish that is served. The wild garlic farmed in Essex married all the flavours in the roast chicken and jersey royals dish. The burrata and pickled chilli dish was deliciously creamy having just been made that morning. I wish I could eat fresh like this everyday!
With the collaboration between The Elephants Head and Foodchain, you as a customer can be certain you are consuming the freshest ingredients in an environmental and sustainable method with no consolation to the flavours!
